    Risk Management Officer

    JOB LEVEL 6 (1 POSITION) - REF: HCA/IAR/RMO/3/20175.

    Overall purpose The Risk Management Officer will be responsible for supporting the risk management process through periodic independent reviews of the risk management practices and procedures to provide assurance on their efficiency and effectiveness.

    5.1 Key duties and responsibilities: Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit and Risk, the Risk Management Officer will be responsible for:

    (i) Supporting the risk management process through periodic independent reviews of the risk management practices and procedures.

    (ii) Assisting in identifying and assessing risks associated with the current and proposed future business activities, including new products, new business relationships and any extension of operations.

    (iii) Conducting awareness programmes on enterprise risk management.

    (iv) Performing regular and comprehensive risk and control assessments and preparing reports on the results on a regular basis.

    (v) Following up on the implementation of management actions to mitigate against identified risks.

    (vi) Continuously reviewing and recommending improvements to the risk management policy and framework.

    (vii) Collating reports from Divisions and Units for presentation to the Risk Management Committee.

    (viii) Identifying best practices from within or from external sources and sharing these practices with management.

    (ix) Ensuring the implementation of the ISO Quality Management System in the area of operation.

    (x) Coordinating the implementation of the Business Continuity Plan at KASNEB.

    (xi) Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    5.2 Academic/Professional Qualifications and Experience The ideal candidate will possess the following:

    (i) Bachelors degree in the business related field from a recognised university
    (ii) CPA qualification.
    (iii) Member in good standing of ICPAK.
    (iv) Certification in risk management or its equivalent.
    (v) A minimum of four (4) years relevant experience in middle level management in risk management in a large organisation and two (2) years relevant experience in risk management for serving officers. 5.3 Key personal attributes/functional skills

    The ideal candidate should:

    (i) Have practical experience in use of computer audit tools.

    (ii) Have a thorough knowledge of financial management and accounting standards.

    (iii) Be knowledgeable on computerised financial/accounting applications.

    (iv) Be honest, trustworthy and possess a high degree of personal integrity and professionalism.

    (v) Have demonstrated leadership qualities and management capability for responsibilities at this level.

    (vi) Have demonstrated leadership qualities and management capability for responsibilities at this level.

    (vii) Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with varied stakeholders.

    (viii) Be customer centric.

    (ix) Demonstrate sound judgement, excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication, presentation and reporting skills

    (x) Be computer literate.

    (xi) Satisfy the provisions of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
