I.T. Applications & Software Development Manager at KCB Bank Kenya

Reporting to the Head of IT KCB Bank Rwanda, the role holder will be responsible for designing, developing, installing and maintaining software solutions for digital products, various business unit’s applications and interfaces.

Key Responsibilities:

•    Assists the Head of IT in dealing with matters relating to digital solutions, business applications such as Internet banking, Mobile banking, Interfaces etc.
•    Initiate and administers the control parameters of the Banks applications systems
•    Administers all applications database such as MSSQL, Oracle and MySQL
•    Evaluate technologies, drive consensus, create proof-of-concept and frameworks
•    Architect, Design & Develop Security & integration components for data extraction, & internal /external application integration
•    Collaborate with Security, Development, Infrastructure & Service delivery team to develop secured frameworks components and applications
•    Work with Dev-Ops team to create monitoring & operational management tools for platform components
•    Design and develop data administration web interfaces for data management
•    Web Services (SOAP & Rest) development for the data access from the data platform
•    Develop architecture that meets security guidelines and KCB security standards
•    Leads the implementation and testing procedures
•    Test new changes or new products/enhancements in business applications
•    Administer business applications system change control file
•    Monitors key reports produced by the applications to ensure accurate system operations
•    Implements all system customization and coordinates Terms of References for external consultants.
•    Coordinate with the rest of the unit members to meet the team objectives
•    Expands knowledge and capabilities to continually add value and progress within the bank IT Team

The Person:

For the above position, the applicant should possess the following:

•    University Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
•    Master’s Degree or relevant professional qualifications are an added advantage.
•    4 years of Development experience in a Cross-platform, multi-tier environment
•    Knowledge and experience of programming language such as Lisp, PHP, Perl, Python and/or Java, API Development.
•    Proven and Demonstrable track record of development of digital products and solutions.
•    Open source framework experience such as Struts, Spring, Caster, Quartz, DWR, JQuery
•    Message based application development using JMS, MQ Series/Rabbit MQ.
•    Web services standards and related technology knowledge (XML, XSD, WSDL SOAP, Rest etc.)
•    Experience in integrating with third party APIs
•    Knowledge in Administration of application server (WebSphere, TC Server) and MQ Series
•    In-depth knowledge of software development life cycle.
•    Relational database and SQL development experience
•    Development experience using RAD/Eclipse tool
•    Banking Experience would be an advantage
•    Mobile development knowledge would be an advantage
•    Strong passion for coding, and technical aptitude, including the ability to understand detailed technical information
•    Good analytical and problem solving skills
•    Management skills including, presentation and communication skills
•    Innovative and very good attention to detail
•    Experience working in a team environment.
