    Technical Advisor - WASH

    REF No.: Amref/STA-W /2017/01-006
    Location: Kakamega, Kisumu, Migori & Kitui

    We are seeking to fill the position of WASH Officer for the newly awarded AFYA TIMIZA project funded by USAID, which seeks to sustainably improve health outcomes for mothers, children and adolescents in Samburu and Turkana counties over a five-year period (September 2016 – September 2021).

    AFYA TIMIZA in implemented by Amref Health Africa in Kenya in partnership with Options UK. The project supports enhanced access to and utilization of quality Family Planning/Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (FP/RMNCAH) services in selected Sub-Counties in Samburu and Turkana Counties.

    Main Purpose Of Job

    To provide technical support to the WASH Team in the planning and implementation of WASH within the Project.

    Qualifications for the Technical Advisor Job

    • Degree in WASH related Engineering or Environmental Health/sciences
      NEMA registered
    • At least Five (5) years relevant work experience.
    • Computer skills
    • Mobilisation skills
    • team player,
    • Communication skills
    • Training skills
    • Report writing skills
    • ICT proficient,

    Technical Advisor Job Responsibilities

    • Planning and implementation
    • Support planning, implementation and management of WASH activities in the entire project sites. Involved in the selection of the intervention for specific site
    • Facilitate/carryout environmental impact assessments and audit assessments and monitor respective mitigation measures
    • Develop designs and generate BQs
    • M&E, research and knowledge management
    • Lead in research in WASH, knowledge management, best practices and new lessons related to WASH. Support monitoring and evaluation activities and ensure timely reporting as per project work plans.
    • Reporting
    • Prepare activity based monthly, quarterly and annual reports relating to the project as per donor requirements
    • Project development
    • Contribute in the development and writing of concepts, proposals and fund raising Capacity building
    • Community mobilization, education and training Participate in the development and testing of BCC/IEC materials
