    Android Training and Apps monetization

    Purpose 
    The purpose of this consultancy is to train 50 youth in android programing and development of android applications that will be uploaded to Play Store. The apps will help the participants to generate income through IN–App Purchases or IN-App Advertising or both. The main objective of the training is to demonstrate and leverage the endless income generating opportunities available in developing for android so as to improve the livelihoods of the youth.  
     
    Expected Outputs/Deliverables 
    • 50 youth trained on programing with android in IFO1, IFO2, Dagahaley and Hagadera camps respectively. 
    • Certification of the trainees by a recognized body 
    • At least four android applications developed, uploaded and published in the Play Store for the four camps. 
    • Proof of income generated from the android apps in the Play Store either through IN-App purchases, IN-App Advertising or premiums. 
    Required Profile/Qualification 
    • Academic:  Degree in Computer Science or equivalent 
    • Demonstrate Experience in android training. 
    • Proof of experience in monetization of android apps. 
    • Familiarity with community-based and participatory approaches to project development; 
    • Prior experience in developing, deploying and publishing android apps using open source technologies. 
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in android training. 
    • Excellent team worker. 
    • Good analytical and trouble shooting skills. 
    • Good oral and written skills in English. 
     
    Conditions 
    The Consultants must be available to commence the training by 17th May, 2017. The total duration for this assignment is 3 months with effect from 17th May to 10th September, 2017, (including travelling days to Dadaab). 
    The training will be done simultaneously across all the four camps, IFO1, IFO2, Hagadera and Dagahaley respectively. Each camp will have six weeks of training. 
    Therefore, two trainers will do the training each with two camps i.e. Dagahaley and IFO2 one trainer and IFO1 and Hagadera the other trainer. 
    DRC will avail transport to and fro the camps. 
    DRC will not cater for accommodation costs to the consultants. However, the consultants can pay for full board accommodation to DRC’s premises at the rate of Ksh 2,400 per day as opposed to living outside the Dadaab complex. 
     
    The Consultant should adhere to the UNHCR coordinated security guidelines. On the same breadth, DRC does not guarantee security of the consultants and it will therefore not be liable for any eventuality. Nevertheless, any relevant security updates will be shared with the consultant when necessary. 
    • The Consultant must complete work within the stipulated time frame 
    • The Consultant must operate within the budget allocated. 
    • The Consultant must adhere to and sign DRC’s Code of Conduct 
    • The Consultant’s financial offer should be inclusive of all associated costs.

    Reporting lines 
    The Consultants will work under the overall guidance of the ICT Technical Instructor in Dadaab and liaise closely with the Livelihoods Team leader.  
    For the duration of the contract, the consultants will provide progress report every end of the week to the ICT Technical Instructor 
    Progress reports will consist of: 
    • Progress with achievement of each deliverable.  
    • Delays experienced and reasons for the delays. 
    • Any questions or challenges and solutions to these challenges.  
    • Specific actions or involvement required from DRC 

    Method of Application
