    Requirements for Appointment
    For appointment to this position, an applicant must:


    • Have a Bachelor’s Degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
    • Have knowledge and experience in one of the following fields: Accounting, Auditing, Finance Management, Risk Management, or any other relevant discipline.
    • Preferably be a member of a professional body and in good standing.

    Other Requirements

    • Have a good understanding of National Government operations and financial management;
    • Have a good understanding of the mandate of the National Gender and Equality Commission;
    • Able to dedicate sufficient time to the performance of Audit Committee work.
    • Fulfil the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya.

    Duties and responsibilities to this position include;

    i. Evaluate whether processes are in place to address key roles and responsibilities in relation to risk management.
    ii. Evaluate the adequacy of the control environment to provide reasonable assurance that the systems of internal control are of a high standard and functioning as intended.
    iii. Perform an independent review of the financial statements to ensure the integrity and transparency of the financial reporting process.
    iv. Monitor the effectiveness of an entity ‘s performance information and compliance with the performance management framework and performance reporting requirements.
    v. Evaluate the quality of the internal audit function, particularly in the areas of planning, monitoring and reporting.
    vi. Engage with external audit and assessing the adequacy of management response to issues identified by audit.
    vii. Review the effectiveness of how the entity monitors compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements and promotes a culture committed to lawful and ethical behaviour.

    Terms of Appointment:

    Member of the Audit Committee shall serve on a part-time basis for a period of three (3) years and shall be eligible for re-appointment for a further one term only.
    The Committee will meet at least four times in a year.
    The allowances payable to the members of the audit committee shall be determined by the SRC.
