    Manager, Conservation Strategy and Innovation

    The Role:

    Takes responsibility for building an integrated approach to strategy development and innovation in support of WWF’s Practice Leaders and Core Teams and its WWF Network Offices.

    Main responsibilities:

    • Facilitates a consistent approach to strategy development and ongoing strategy refinement across WWF‘s Global Practices[1] and Network Offices
    • Documents and systematizes learnings on strategy development and refinements and drives ongoing communication and awareness of these learnings and refinements
    • Supports Proposal Development function within WWF Global Practice Core Teams to ensure that the development of our most promising initiatives benefits from latest thinking on strategy development
    • Develops a process by which our Practices and Office strategies can benefit from the latest and up-to-date thinking on global and regional trends and support alignment of these as part of a wider Network planning process (led by the Integrated Performance Unit)
    • Facilitates and coordinates a consistent and effective approach that promotes innovation within/across the nine Practices and in programmes and projects set-up and run by WWF Offices.
    • Manages the allocation of grants for innovation and capacity building with and on behalf of the Practice Core teams and ensures coordination of this with similar funds set-up by other WWF Offices
    • Establishes cross-Practice co-ordination and collaboration among the Innovation functions within Practices and Country Offices
    • Develops, and manages with Practice core teams, a knowledge centre and community of staff working on strategy development and innovation in programme and projects across Network Offices; this in close collaboration with the Knowledge and Learning Manager
    • Project Manages global research & analytical projects as the need arises in co-ordination with the Practice Core teams
    • Manages external relationships with partner organizations on Innovation and Strategy Development

    Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:

    • University degree in Biology, Natural Resources, Environment, Economics, Business or related discipline
    • 7 years’ post-graduate professional experience including direct experience in relation to environment, development, conservation or sustainability
    • At least 3 years’ experience of working with entrepreneurship, innovation platforms, processes, investment programmes, or related approaches
    • Experience of working in an international and/or inter-cultural environment, with NGO experience an advantage
    • Familiarity with working in virtual teams across multiple time zones
    • Demonstrated evidence of a strong strategic and analytical mind-set,
    • Effective working in teams to achieve a common objective
    • Excellent communication skills, including fluent spoken and written English.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, a networker who is good at building relationships.
    • Solutions-oriented with effective problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to manage a multiple projects against tough deadlines
    • Adheres to WWF’s values, which are: Knowledgeable, Optimistic, Determined and Engaging.
