    Area Sales Manager

    Reporting to the Senior Manager-Regional Sales, the position holder will be responsible for indirect generation of sales revenue through effective management of Safaricom Business in the assigned area. This will be achieved by ensuring availability of the company’s products and services in the area at all times and effectively aligning Dealer distribution to meet the Retail objectives.

    They will also grow Sales within the Area by developing innovative ways of increasing/growing airtime sales at the Point of Purchase; Value added services and connections by ensuring availability of the company products at all times within the area of Accountability.

    Roles for the Area Sales Manager Job

    • Effective implementation of distribution strategy in the trade to achieve availability and grow sales within the assigned area.
    • Effectively execute through SFE tool to achieve RED objectives within a sales area.
    • Ensure achievement of set sales and usage targets i.e. Monthly, quarterly, semiannually or annually.
    • Prepare, plan and execute Area Sales programs aimed at market penetration, availability of the company products and services at all time.
    • Ensure shops are well branded according to Safaricom standards in order to create awareness & ensure that stores are well stocked and sell at recommended sales prices.
    • Seek new alternative channels and route to market In order to maximize on all revenue opportunities and reduce reliance on the dealer network
    • Ensure highest level of integrity especially in dealing with dealers through reinforcing high ethical and compliance standards in the sales and distribution process.
    • Develop,train & motivate dealer network to enhance 3rd party practices in the market

    Area Sales Manager Job Requirements

    • Degree in a Business related field, preferably marketing with Marketing experience.
    • Diploma in Professional Marketing from Chartered Institute of Marketing will be an added advantage.
    • Must have at least 4 years working experience in a sales environment.
    • 2 Years must be in distribution preferably FMCG.
    • 2 Years must be in people and team management
    • 1 Year must be in Direct selling and Market development.
    • Excellent knowledge of Safaricom products and services.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (articulate) coupled with good listening and critical reasoning skills.
    • Proactive, confident, energetic and able to work under pressure with a positive attitude and use good organization skills
    • Excellent Partner and channel management.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrate ability to implement processes and handle cross functional issues from end to end.
    • Demonstrate ability to handle governance issues, bring people to task
