We are looking for a Broadcast Assistant (Planning) to join the Nairobi Bureau.
The Broadcast Assistant will work in the Planning team keeping accurate and up-to-date records of news events, stories and planned coverage. You will liaise between the deployment editor and programme teams, assisting with filing or recording of material as requested. This role also provides administrative support with tasks including providing operational support for the planning and production teams, diary management, keeping contact lists up to date and managing travel and accommodation bookings. You will act as a point of contact for all BBC departments, outside contributors and guests.
The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively in both written and spoken English and Swahili, being able to communicate and present complex information and ideas clearly and concisely. You will have experience of carrying out tasks where attention to detail is particularly important and a thorough and accurate approach to fact checking, note-taking and record keeping. Being highly organised with excellent time management skills is important as well as being able to demonstrate experience of working in a fast changing environment, meeting tight deadlines. A keen interest in African and international news and current affairs is desirable.
