    Programme Coordinator - Agribusiness

    Department: Programmes

    Reports to: Head of Programmes

    Salary: Annual Gross Salary -Kshs. 1,920,000

    Benefits: 21 days annual leave, Medical Insurance and 10% Employer pension contribution

    Restrictions: 6 Months’ Probation period, 2 years contract renewable and 2 Months’ Notice Period

    Expected travel: Significant nation-wide travel and minimum international travel required

    Job Purpose: The job role will be to ensure development of profitable smallholder farmer-led enterprises that are fully integrated into sustainable value chains within the SHA Country Programme.

    The Coordinator will identify and support the growth of farmer business groups, cooperatives and farmer associations to develop and manage both on farm and off farm Income generating Activities; identify and promote sustainable value chains; ensure effective engagement of partners and stakeholders including private sector in supporting the achievement of programme goals and strategic objectives in line with the of the Kenya strategic plan.

    He/She will conduct economic, commercial and market assessments, participatory action research and market intelligence for the relevant sectors and assist farmer organisations in establishing and elaborating business and strategic plans.

    Essential Qualifications:

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Agri-business, management, or economics required;
    • Strong computer skills especially with MS Word and Excel and other related packages

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • At least 5 years’ experience in the implementation of agri-business/enterprise development projects, working with Lead Firms/MSMEs within value chains or related projects, at a similar level
    • Strong project management skills
    • Experience in facilitating the provision of business development services (BDS) to develop smallholder enterprises.
    • Experience in mentoring micro, small to medium enterprises
    • Strong training and facilitation skills.
    • High level skills and experience in capacity building and report writing
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and team building skills
