    Petroleum Officer (Civil Engineer II)

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

    • a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Civil Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Petroleum Engineering Technology or equivalent and relevant qualification from a university recognized in Kenya.
    • been registered by the Engineers’ Registration Board as a Graduate Engineer.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a more experienced officer. Specific duties and responsibilities shall include:

    • assisting in safety and hazard assessment including technical inspection of oil and gas installations;
    • assisting in undertaking plant design and operations;
    • preparing construction specifications and operating instructions;
    • collecting chemical engineering data; and
    • preparing safety notices and permits under the Petroleum Act.
