    Director of Finance and Administration

    Job Description

    The Company Our client, Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) has the mandate to market Kenya at local, national, regional and international levels as a premier tourist destination. KTB is looking to recruit exceptional, highly competent and professional individual to fill the position of Director of Finance and Administration.

    Overall Purpose

    Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Finance and Administration will be overall responsible for the financial management function, human resources and administration matters of KTB.

    Key Roles & Responsibilities

    • Provide leadership in the development of Financial, Human resource and Administration strategies, policies and procedures;
    • Advise the Board on all financial, Human Resource and Administration matters of KTB;
    • Ensure the implementation of Financial, Human Resource and Administration policies, guidelines and regulations;
    • Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets, work plans and management reports;
    • Monitor and review financial and physical implementation of Board projects and programmes to ensure proper utilization of available resources;
    • Develop supplementary financial regulations and procedures to enhance internal controls established through normal Treasury regulations and procedures;
    • Bear responsibility for prudent use of funds allocated to the directorate and for demonstrating return on investment for all funds expended;
    • Liaise with other with other Directorates so as to ensure that financial and related regulations are complied with and where applicable give procedural guidance, treasury circulars, letters and instructions;
    • Coordinate the preparation of financial statements;
    • Facilitate the design and implementation of an effective financial systems and
    • Training and development of staff including staff performance management.

    Key Qualifications and Experience

    • Twelve (12) years relevant experience, five (5) of which should be in senior management position.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics or related field.
    • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking or related field.
    • Certified Public Accountants CPA (K) or its equivalent qualification.
    • Member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
    • Applicants who possess a certificate in a Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution will have an added advantage

    • Good analytical and critical thinking skills, problem-solving, judgment and decision-making skills. A proven capability to provide gainful insight and practical and pragmatic
    • solutions to business challenges.
    • Excellent communication.
    • Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships, influence and motivate employees, customers and other stakeholders.
    • Absolute and unquestioned personal integrity and high level of accountability.

    Additional Information

    Shortlisted candidates will be required to satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010. To be considered, the applicant must get clearance from all of the following institutions.

    • Directorate of Criminal Investigation
    • Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
    • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
    • Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
    • Clearance from Credit Reference Bureau Africa Ltd or Metropol Credit Reference Bureau.
