Artificial Insemination Technician at Good Neighbors

Employment Period: 1 year renewable

Key Responsibilities

1. In assistance to the Farm Supervisor and Insemination Specialist, organize, supervise, participate in and be responsible for the daily activities of the assigned crew of team employees, consistent with good animal husbandry set forth by company policies, Insemination Specialist, Supervisor and Breeder Management Personnel.
2. Perform heat detection, artificial insemination and pregnancy checks.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license with good vehicle operating record
• Must be able to wear respiratory, eye protection, and any/all safety protection wear for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to dol repetitive activities of bending, twisting, or lifting.
• Must be able to work in a hot, dusty environment with ammonia present.
• Must have basic math ability to perform record keeping tasks.
• Good mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools to perform repairs (A.I. chutes, vacc. tables, straw fillers, vacc. guns, etc.) as obtained through previous experience or education.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certificate in Artificial Insemination
• 3 years’ experience in breeder dairy artificial insemination techniques with associated activities of selecting, blood testing, vaccinating, etc., and standard performance result
• Qualification in Animal Health will be added advantage.
