General Manager at Millar Cameron

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a General Manager to join a large international food, beverage and ingredients company based in one of their factories in Kenya. The company is an established leading food, beverage and ingredients producer.

The ideal General Manager will have an extremely strong engineering background and also have experience working with continuous improvement and continuous engineering strategies. They will possess management experience in a food, beverage, or FMCG manufacturing business and will believe in leading by example.

The successful General Manager will be responsible for:

• Leading the organisation to provide a high-quality service to the customers
• Implementing and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement
• Monitoring compliance with food factory standards, health and safety standards and policies across the organisation to ensure the organisation is operating at a world class manufacturing standard
• Negotiating with workforce representatives
• Inspiring and empowering the organisation to develop skills and monitoring service levels to ensure performance

The requirements of the successful General Manager:

• Strong engineering background
• Understanding of continuous improvement and continuous engineering strategies
• Managerial experience in a food, beverage, or FMCG manufacturing business
• Experience of a manufacturing operation in less economically developed countries (ideally within Africa)
• Experience taking responsibility for the P&L of a factory
• Ability to lead, inspire and empower people within a large organisation
• Articulate with strong written and verbal communication
• Excellent relationship building skills
