The World Food Programme is the food assistance branch of the United Nations and the world's largest humanitarian organization addressing hunger and promoting food security.
We are currently seeking to fill the position of Partnerships Intern based in the Partnerships Unit of the Regional Bureau, Nairobi.
The unit has 4 staff undertaking and providing partnership support to Country Offices on the Integrated Road Map rollout, regional donor relations, UN and NGO relations, regional leadership visibility, UNDG/UNDAF processes, partnership knowledge management and private sector partnerships.
Enhancing partnerships and exploring new forms of engagement with key stakeholders are critical to achieve WFPs mandate. RBN assists the region in raising funds where most needed and optimizing the management of these resources.
At the same time, one of the key pillars for the 2019 unit work plan is carrying out an aggressive private sector outreach strategy and brokering win-win partnerships with the private sector i.e. companies, foundations and high net worth individuals in the region.
The unit is also expected to support Country Offices in engaging private sector in country. However, most COs do not have a dedicated staff working on private sector partnerships, which means that the Regional Bureau has to continuously provide support in this area.
The intern will provide support to the unit in these areas a) government partnerships with a focus on donor relations information and knowledge management and b) private sector outreach.
