Senior Lecturer / Lecturer in Medical Laboratory Sciences at Amref Kenya

Job Description

The holder of the job will lead the curriculum development and delivery in Laboratory Sciences and related disciplines. Further, the holder will develop, and implement research and extension activities.

Main Duties and Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of curricula in Laboratory Sciences
• Lead accreditation and implementation of courses as per CUE guidelines
• Teach and supervise students
• Coordinate practicum
• Lead teams in development and implementation of research projects
• Form and manage partnerships for advancing Laboratory Sciences
• Mobilize resources to ensure sustainability of courses in Laboratory Sciences
• Develop and apply innovative and appropriate teaching techniques and material which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students.

Academic requirements

• A degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences
• An earned PhD in a specialist area of laboratory Sciences field from a recognized university.
• Thirty two (32) points of publications in peer reviewed journals for Senior Lecturer. Twenty Four (24) points for lecturer as per CUE requirements.
• Supervision of at least three (3) MSc students for Senior Lecturer.
• Registered with relevant professional body

Experience

• At least three (3) years teaching University experience or six (6) in research/industry)
• Curriculum development and delivery
• Knowledge of CUE and regulator requirements
• Initiating and maintaining quality laboratory management systems
• At least six (6) years’ work experience in a busy laboratory setting
