Manager, Trading Desk at BitPesa

Job Summary

The Manager, Trading Desk will be responsible for managing BitPesa’s liquidity, treasury operations, pricing and risk management. You will support the Sales and trading team which are based in Kenya and Nigeria, however the operations cover multiple time zones and locations (Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, along with counterparties in Europe and the US). Responsibilities

Pricing

• Make a market in several currency pairs
• Monitor competitor pricing
• Work with sales team to maximize price effectiveness vs. profitability
• Make recommendations to improve trading procedures (reduce risk, increase efficiency, maximize profitability)
• Quantify risk of multiple African currency balances
• Ensure all trading activities are in compliance with our best execution policies
• Perform trade execution data analysis including broker due diligence, execution measurement, performance tracking and accountability

Liquidity Management 

• Manage liquidity across dozens of accounts in over 10 currencies
• Project cash flows and provide analysis of cash movements
• Carefully monitor capital controls, intercompany flows, and any other factors that may inhibit ability to move funds freely
• Manage relationships withal trading counterparties
• Provide recommendations for automation, risk mitigation, or any other policies & procedures to increase efficiency and mitigate risk while maintaining trade volumes

Analysis/ Forecasting 

• Daily/weekly/monthly review of profitability across all countries
• Analyze the direction of customer flows
• Monitor the bank rates and black-market rates
• Full life cycle trade responsibilities: build, pre-trade analysis, execution, post-trade analysis, allocations and settlement across multiple strategies, brokers and banks

Requirements

• University Degree
• Deep experience in trading and treasury, ideally Foreign Exchange
• Excellent interpersonal, communications, public speaking, and presentation skills
• Highly detail oriented and analytical
• Fluent in French and English
