Alarm Room Operator at Vectrus

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for receiving emergency information and dispatching fire and
emergency services department personnel. This position is the hub of communication and records for the department. Performs a variety of other associated tasks.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES: Please list by order of priority and, if possible, provide the percentage of time spent on the activity all should equal 100%.

• Monitors the communications center 30%
• Receives alarms, alerts and dispatches Fire and Emergency Services crews accordingly. 15%
• Records and interprets data 10%
• Receives and relays pertinent communications 15%
• Conducts recurrent proficiency training and OJT. 15%
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Fire Chief 15%

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education/Certifications: Two years related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent, Certified by IFSAC or Pro-Board to the Tele-communicator I&II level, Pass a English Proficiency Exam to at minimum the 9th grade level of comprehension & speech.

Experience:

Minimum of two-years on the job experience as an Alarm Room Operator (ARO)

Skills:

Able to write/speak and comprehend the English language to at minimum a 9th grade proficiency level.
