Accounts Assistant / Accounts Clerk (with Inventory Focus) at Reeds Africa Consult

• The successful candidate will assist with invoice processing, stock valuation, purchase order tracking, and month-end reconciliations, while maintaining strong communication between the warehouse, purchasing, and finance departments.

Job Description

Financial & Inventory Recording

• Record and reconcile stock movements, purchases, and sales transactions in the accounting system.
• Ensure accurate posting of inventory costs, stock adjustments, and related journal entries.
• Support month-end and year-end stock valuation and reporting.
• Reconcile inventory accounts with physical stock counts and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Purchasing & Invoicing
• Match purchase orders, delivery notes, and supplier invoices to ensure accuracy before processing payments.
• Liaise with the procurement and warehouse teams to verify goods received and ensure correct pricing.
• Assist in managing supplier accounts, monitoring due dates, and preparing payment runs.
• Operational Support & Communication
• General Accounting Duties
• Serve as a liaison between accounts, purchasing, and warehouse departments.
• Identify and report stock discrepancies or process issues affecting financial accuracy.
• Support continuous improvement of inventory control and accounting processes.
• Assist with bank reconciliations, expense tracking, and data entry as required.
• Maintain accurate financial and inventory records in compliance with company policies.

Qualifications and Experience

Education & Qualifications:

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field

Experience:

• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in an accounts role.
• Proven experience in reconciling stock and financial data across departments.
• Hands-on experience with accounting and inventory management software e.g. SAP or similar).
• Familiarity with purchasing, stock tracking, and invoice processing workflows.
• Experience in retail and distribution environments is a strong advantage
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meeet deadlines
