Artisan Plant Mechanic at County Government of Kisumu

Terms of Service- Permanent and Pensionable 

• The mechanic will be deployed at the County Agricultural Mechanization Station

Responsibilities

• This is the entry and training grade for artisanal mechanics. An officer at this level will work under guidance of the Agricultural Mechanization Station Workshop Manager.

Duties and responsibilities

• Keeping equipment available for use by inspecting and testing machinery;
• Repairing and maintaining machinery in functional condition;
• Verifying quality of spare parts
• Ensuring and maintaining a healthy, safe and secure working environment in compliance with
• Procedures, regulations and government requirements.

Qualifications
The Officer should have;

• Kenyan citizenship
• Kenya certificate of secoridary education (KCSE) mean Grade, ‘D’ plain or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Candidates must have a certificate or Government Trade Test Certificate Grade III in plant mechanics awarded by the Directorate of Industrial Training or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
• Passed the occupational Trade Test I for Mechanics;
• At least one (1) year experience in heavy diesel/ mobile plant enyironment.
• Good knowledge of IC engines, hydraulic systems and electrical circuits.
• Attended a First-Aid course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John Ambulance or the Kenya institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or other recognized institution;
• A valid driving license, Class D and Special Type
