Assistant Commissioner, Cooperatives - 5 Positions at Kakamega County

Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: -

• Provide technical advice in the area of specialization;
• Advice on cooperative investments;
• Analyze data for policy formulation;
• Enforce compliance with cooperative legislation;
• Carry out market research and disseminating research findings;
• Promote value addition and processing;
• Conduct cooperative banking inspections;
• Undertake cooperative risk assessment; and
• Prepare and evaluate cooperative activities and trends for promoting the cooperative movement.

Requirements for Appointment 
For appointment in to this grade, an officer must have: -

• Served in the grade of Principal Cooperatives Officer, Job Group CPSB 06/’N’ or in a comparable position in the Public Service for a minimum period of three (3) years;
• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Sociology, Law, Cooperative Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Management and Organizational Development or Finance from a recognized institution;
• Master’s degree in Commerce, Business administration, Economics, Sociology, Law, Cooperative Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Management and Organizational Development from a recognized institution will be an added advantage;
• Diploma in any of the following disciplines; Co-operative Management, Co-operative auditing, Marketing, Internal Auditing, or Finance qualification from a recognized institution

OR

• Certified Public Secretaries (CPS) Kenya Part III or Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Kenya Part III from a recognized institution; and
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
