    Assistant Director of Land Surveys

    Requirements for appointment

    1. Served in the grade of Principal Land Surveyor for a minimum period of three (3) years;
    2. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Land Surveying and Photogrammetry, Geomatics, Geomatics Engineering, Technology in Geomatics, Technology in Geo-informatics, Geo-spatial Engineering, Philosophy in Technology (Survey) from a recognized institution;
    3. Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Land Surveying, Land Management, Cartography, Photogrammetry, Photolithography, Geomatics, Geomatics Engineering, Technology in Geomatics, Geo-spatial Engineering, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Urban or Regional Planning, Geodesy, Hydrography, Environmental Science, Information Science or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    4. Membership of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK);
    5. Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
    6. Certificate in computer applications; and
    7. Demonstrated a high degree of professional competence and administrative capability.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Researching and initiating new land surveying and County Land Information Management Systems (CLIMS) techniques in line with the changing professional demands;
    2. Supervising gravity and magnetic analysis, establishment of Very Long Base Interferometry (VLBI), cadastral adjudication, topographical, sub-divisional schemes, photo control, engineering surveys;
    3. Carrying out quality control of topographical, engineering, cadastral adjudication and general boundary surveys;
    4. Providing standardization data for maintaining, testing, calibrating and certifying survey equipment; and
    5. Estimating and costing of survey projects.

    Requirements for appointment

    1. Served in the grade of Senior Architectural Assistant Job Group ‘L’ in the public service for at least three (3) years;
    2. A Diploma or Technician Certificate Part III in any of the following disciplines: Building/Civil Engineering, Architecture, or its relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Attended a Supervisory Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
    1. Shown administrative ability, wide knowledge and experience in preparation of drawings and management of drawings office; and
    2. Shown administrative ability by being conversant with Government procedures.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Supervision of the drawing office and the works on site;
    2. Preparation and checking of finished working drawings;
    • Analysis of technical information required by project teams at each design stage;
    1. Coordination, organization and scheduling of work to ensure smooth flow; and
    2. Training and development of technical staff under him/her.

    Method of Application

    The completed KCPS 2 Form, together with certified copies of applicant’s academic/professional certificates, letter of appointment/promotion to their present grade and National Identity Card should reach the office of the Board Secretary, Kitui County Public Service Board, on or before Monday, 13th June, 2022.

    Short listed candidates shall be required to produce both originals and certified copies of their National Identity Card, Academic and Professional certificates and transcripts, letter of appointment/promotion to the current substantive post during interview. In addition, they will be required to ensure that the Head of Department’s recommendation on KCPS 2A Form is forwarded before the interview.
