Assistant Director Renewable Energy at Taita Taveta County

Duties and responsibilities 

• Review and implementation of county specific renewable energy policies, strategies, standards, guidelines and regulations;
• Coordinate research, collect data, maintain and update records in renewable energy in the county;
• Promote and utilize renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency and conservation in the county;
• Undertake research and provide technical advice on renewable energy;
• Develop county frameworks to enable efficient and sustainable production and distribution of energy and bio-energy technologies;
• Promote alternative sources of energy production in the county;
• Develop appropriate local capacity for manufacturing, installation, and maintenance and operational of renewable energy technologies;
• Promote public-private sector participation in development of renewable energy;
• Ensuring strict compliance with all financial budgetary and procurement procedures; and,
• Any other duties assigned.

Requirements for Appointment:

• Be a Kenyan citizen
• Bachelors' degree in any of the following disciplines: Energy, Environmental Science and Mining Engineering or equivalent and relevant qualification from a University recognized in Kenya.
• Eight years' experience in public service preferably in the field of renewable energy or mining sector.
• Post-graduate training and certification in any of the above discipline will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge in GIS and Remote Sensing will be an added advantage. 
• Having worked in the energy division will be an added advantage.
• Ability to demonstrate administrative capability and understanding and Understanding of the Energy Division functions;
• Registration by professional bodies will be an added advantage;
• Excellent in written and verbal communications and team leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
