    Associate Director, Fiscal Justice

    The Associate Director for Fiscal Justice works in the Equity Pillar of Global Programs. This pillar works to promote fiscal justice and safeguard essential public services, to advance corporate accountability and worker rights, to promote refugee protection and to ensure just drug policy.

    As an Associate Director for Fiscal Justice at Open Society you will:

    • Develop and execute strategies that advance fiscal justice, safeguard essential public services, and promote green, inclusive, and equitable economic policies.
    • Implement strategy using multiple tools and make decisions within an approved budget related to providing grant support to civil society organizations.
    • Build key internal and external partnerships, including with government, multilateral and private sector actors, and leverage tools and expertise from across the network to advance shared goals and advocacy strategies around economic justice.

    What we are looking for:

    • 7-10 years of experience in a field connected to the advancement of economic rights and justice.
    • Deep knowledge of and experience working on issues relating to economic inequality, tax policy, public budgets, debt, development financing and/or social and economic inclusion issues.
    • Experience working in or in partnership with governments in the Global South and/or multilateral organizations on issues of economic development and economic justice.
    • Practical experience using multiple tools to effect change, including grant-making, campaigning, coalition-building, NGO strengthening, and policy research.
    • Experience developing and refining strategic directions including involvement in dialogue to refine concepts, development of supporting data, and identifying and resolving potential conflicts, obstacles, political concerns, etc.
    • Commitment to continuous learning and growth in the areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, antiracism and social justice.
    • Commitment to listening and working with humility; ways of working that are respectful to all people; and that support space and voice for all diverse perspectives in our workplace.

    Desirable (but not required):

    • Strong networks within international financial institutions.
    • Fluency in additional languages besides English.
