    Associate Partner, Nairobi

    THE TEAM

    We are a diverse team of 50+ people, representing 10+ nationalities, with offices in Colombia (HQ), Kenya, Morocco, Peru, and the USA. Our team of practitioners has extensive development and government experience, including previous roles in impact evaluation (e.g., J-PAL), development banks (e.g., World Bank), country governments (e.g., Rwanda Ministry of Finance, Colombia’s National Planning Department, Congress of Colombia), and research (e.g., Harvard’s Center for International Development).

    THE ROLE 

    As an Associate Partner, you will be an integral part of a dynamic leadership team for a change-making, fast-moving, nimble organization. You will focus your leadership on growing our impact and operations in the Sub-saharan Africa region, delivered through our fast-growing Nairobi office, and increasing Instiglio’s presence, proximity  and influence within the Regional ecosystem (donors, think-tanks, foundations and other clients). 

    Although responsibilities may evolve, they will likely include:

      1. Strategy: Assisting the Managing Partner and the partner group in designing and executing our global strategy with a deeper regional focus on the Sub-Saharan Africa region.
      2. Business development: Work with the Managing Partner to drive business development in SSA, including developing and cultivating relationships with key stakeholders and clients.
      3. Project leadership: Providing strategic, technical and team leadership in our projects to deliver maximum social impact and exceed client expectations. 
      4. Thought leadership and brand positioning: Advancing thought-leadership, evolving our technical practices and communicating to our external audience. 
      5. Organizational development: In addition to being stewards of our culture, Associate Partners also oversee the performance, growth and overall health of specific organizational units or teams. This supervisory role aims to ensure high levels of team performance, team health and wellbeing, and appropriate growth strategies and operational support systems. 

    THE PROFILE 

    We are growing a team of resourceful go-getters that are driven by our mission, curious about the world, and dedicated to a life of learning. An ideal candidate will have:

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

    Experience:

    • 12+ years of relevant work experience in international development, the public sector or/and in development policy accompanied with a deep understanding of international development and the public sector.
    • Proven track record in a consulting setting, strategic advisory and client development roles including business development and client/project management.
    • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in improving government effectiveness, Results-Based Financing, Performance Management, Behavioral economics/science, Public Sector reforms or data-management related fields such as innovative M&E and data science. 
    • Proven track record building and consolidating regional teams. 

    Education:

    • A relevant master’s degree focused on the development process of developing countries (public administration, public policy, development economics, governance and institutions). 

    Language Skills

    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English (C2).

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS 

    • Experience:
    • Experience working with governments in Africa and donors in Europe
    • Experience working with international development organizations 

    Language: 

    • Professional working proficiency in French
