    Reporting to: F&B MANAGER

    Job Summary

    Safari Beach Hotel in Diani, South Coast is looking to recruit a competent Barman with exceptional beverage knowledge and able to serve, prepare and upsell a variety of classic and innovative alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. His role is to stay guest focused and provide an excellent guest drinking experience. The applicant must be a resident of South Coast and willing to start immediately.

    Responsibilities include

    1. Greeting guests who come to the bar and taking beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons.
    2. Posting guest orders in the POS system.
    3. Continually assessing customers’ needs and preferences and making recommendations and up-selling food and beverages to guests.
    4. Exercising due diligence to avoid serving underage persons.
    5. Preparing and serving a variety of alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages.
    6. Observing bar opening and closing duties
    7. Creating beverage lists, menus and drink promotions in close collaboration with the F&B Manager.
    8. Restocking and replenishing bar inventory and supplies.
    9. Presenting attractive bottle & Glass displays.
    10. Complying with all safety and health policies when handling food and beverages.
    11. Following a correct sequence of services outlined in the F&B Standard Operating Manual.
    12. Cleaning of glasses, utensils, bar equipment, bars, work areas, tables and guest lounge areas.
    13. Clearing tables and counters once service is completed and cleaning up any spillages.
    14. Monitoring the intake of alcohol by guests, and stopping the sale of alcohol to those who are intoxicated.
    15. Issuing sales receipts & confirming guest payments by PDQ or via Mpesa as per Hotel payment policy.
    16. Reporting all spoilages and breakages to the F&B Manager for proper recording.
    17. Works with the controller to verify bar stock inventory.

    Qualifications & Prerequisites

    1. Minimum of 2yrs working experience as a bartender in a reputable hotel.
    2. Excellent beverage knowledge paired with working knowledge of POS systems.
    3. Must be a team player, possessing a personable demeanor and excellent customer service skills.
    4. Good communication skills, fluent in English & Swahili.
    5. Physically fit and able to lift heavy crates, service trays, boxes, etc.
    6. Great attention to detail.
    7. Honesty and integrity
    8. Must be punctual, dependable and flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
    9. Must have good grooming practices.
    10. Shows initiative and takes action with an appropriate level of independence.
