Blockchain Technology Track Mentor / Facilitator, Kenya

    REF NO. AD/2/10/2026 - 1 POST

    The Position:

This is a full-time position based in Nairobi and offered on a two-year fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will report directly to the Principal Investigator of the Project. The role focuses on guiding participants through the blockchain innovation track — helping them understand blockchain fundamentals, apply distributed ledger technology in solving real-world challenges, and build working prototypes aligned with Kenya’s digital transformation agenda.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Deliver high-quality block chain sessions during boot camps and hackathons, focusing on both foundational and applied concepts such as distributed ledgers, smart contracts, NFTs, and DeFi.
    • Mentor participants throughout the innovation cycle, from ideation and problem framing to concept development, prototype design, and testing.
    • Provide both one-on-one and group mentorship to startup teams developing block chainbased solutions in sectors such as agriculture, finance, logistics, and health.
    • Collaborate with other mentors, facilitators, and technical experts to foster a cohesive and interdisciplinary learning environment.
    • Design and continuously refine block chain learning modules, practical laboratories, and exercises that promote hands-on engagement and applied learning.
    • Support the facilitation of design-thinking sessions, innovation sprints, and team-based hackathon challenges by integrating block chain technology components.
    • Assist in organizing and coordinating block chain-related technical clinics, ensuring effective scheduling, delivery, and resource management.
    • Guide participants in the use of block chain development tools such as Solidity, Remix IDE, MetaMask, Hardhat, and Truffle.
    • Provide technical feedback on participants’ prototypes and advise on scalability, sustainability, and compliance with relevant block chain standards.
    • Engage with industry partners, mentors, and block chain associations to connect participants with professional networks and potential investment or incubation opportunities.
    • Support reporting, documentation, and communication of block chain track progress, including the compilation of session notes, participant feedback, and outcomes.
    • Contribute to post-event reviews and lessons learned to continuously improve the design and delivery of future boot camps and hackathons.

    Job Specification:

    • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
    • At least three (3) years of experience in blockchain application development, distributed ledger systems, or fintech innovation.
    • Proven experience in mentorship, technical facilitation, or training delivery within technology bootcamps or innovation programs.
    • Practical experience developing smart contracts, decentralized applications (dApps), or blockchain-based systems on platforms such as Ethereum, Solana, or Hyperledger.
    • Experience collaborating in multi-stakeholder innovation ecosystems or universityaffiliated research and development projects.

    Desirable:

    •  Certification in Blockchain Technology, Web3 Development, or Smart Contract Programming.
    •  Experience in university innovation hubs, incubation centres, or digital skills training projects.
    • Knowledge of blockchain regulatory, ethical, and governance frameworks in Kenya or Africa.

    Skills and Competencies

    • Strong technical knowledge of blockchain architectures, consensus mechanisms, and decentralized application frameworks.
    • Excellent facilitation, mentoring, and instructional delivery skills suitable for youth and early-stage innovators.
    • Proficiency in blockchain tools such as Solidity, Remix IDE, Hardhat, Truffle, MetaMask, and blockchain APIs.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in technology innovation contexts.
    • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to guide participants in applying blockchain solutions to real-world use cases in agriculture, fintech, or public systems. 7. High ethical standards, integrity, and commitment to responsible technology development.
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple teams, and meet event timelines.
