Brewery Manager at a Reputable Company

Our client in the alcoholic beverage trade seeks to recruit a Brewery Manager to establish and manage a new beer plant incorporating production and packaging of several beverages. 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Product development

• The Brewery Manager will work in conjunction with management, brewery owners and the marketing team to develop interesting and unique beers that consumers will enjoy. The beers will be designed to not only taste great, but to satisfy consumer demand in the market.

Sourcing raw materials and dealing with suppliers

• The Brewery Manager will be responsible for sourcing high quality raw materials required for the brewing process, including determining the quality of the raw materials are of sufficient quality for the beer to be produced. The Brewery Manager will also ensure the raw materials are stored safely and that there is sufficient inventory available for the current beer production rate.

Brewery operations

• The key responsibility of the Brewery Manager will be to oversee the brewing process, ensure the brew recipe is well documented and always followed, consistent with best production processes that maximizes quality at least cost.

Equipment maintenance & purchasing

• The Brewery Manager will ensure all plant equipment is maintained to manufacturer as well as regulatory requirements with optimally viable maintenance schedules.  

Quality control

• He/she will assess the quality of the products throughout the production process. They will be responsible for both scientific and taste-testing of products to meet regulatory as well as company standards.

Production record keeping

• Detailed records must be kept, with the goal of improving product quality and production processes.

Maintain safety and hygiene standards throughout the brewery

• The Brewery Manager will ensure that work is performed in a safe manner and strict hygiene standards are maintained.

Represent the organization and interact with trade

• The Brewery Manager will interact with customers and consumers and own the brand pride of the products that are produced at the plant.

Managing key production requirements and setting KPIs

• The Brewery Manager will be responsible for setting production goals, ensuring optimal inventory and production efficiencies and identifying key performance indicators at the plant.

Budgeting

• These will be prepared for Human Resource requirements, raw materials, production, product development etc. and shared with senior management.

Plant improvements

• The Brewery Manger will create a plan for plant improvements, setting up goals for greater productivity, hygiene, including health and safety for all staff and visitors.

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Brewing, chemistry/Microbiology/food science or related field.
• 10+ years of brewing and supervisory experience.
• Candidates with experience overseeing packaging will have an added advantage.
• Leadership skills, managerial skills and the ability to motivate staff.
• A passion and a very high level of brewing skills.
• A passion for new product development. 
• Experience training and supervising technical resources. 
• Some mechanical knowledge and familiarity with brewing components.
• Innovative, creative and motivated to create some new and delicious beers.
• Quality assurance skills and drive for continual improvement and efficiencies.
