We’re looking for an outstanding and highly experienced Business and Human Rights Adviser to develop research and advocacy campaigns targeting big tech companies on the human rights impacts of digital technologies on children and young people’s digital rights, particularly in relation to their health and well-being.

As well as delivering a global programme of work led by the IS, we are developing local projects in several countries and regions. In collaboration with a global community of activists, advocates and campaigners we will strive to enable real diverse children and young people’s leadership and protect their rights and well-being in the digital world.

     JOB PURPOSE

The Business and Human Rights Adviser on Children and Young People’s Digital Rights, positioned in the Children’s Digital Rights (CDR) Team of Amnesty Tech, will be an integral role in meeting Amnesty Tech’s goal of documenting and exposing the impact of Artificial Intelligence, big data systems, and surveillance-based business models on the health and well-being of children and young people.

The role will work with the CDR team to research and document the impact of Artificial Intelligence, big data systems, and surveillance-based business models on the health and well-being of children and young people, ensuring that the team, their strategies and work plans are fully informed by business and human rights standards, practices and regulations.

The role will be essential in Amnesty International’s work to develop children and young people’s knowledge of digital rights and the nature of technology and its impact on their health and well-being as we build an inclusive narrative and campaign to re-imagine a rights-respecting ecosystem. Responding in real time to emerging and changing policy and legal frameworks that regulate big tech platforms and that impact on children and young people and contribute to Amnesty International’s vision of a world where online platforms and other digital technologies are safe, healthy and supportive spaces for children and young people, helping them realize their human rights.
