    Business Development Assistant - Travel Insurance Product

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Servicing business, i.e. brokers, agents and direct clients. This will include quoting for both individual and Corporate business, providing customer service to all walk in client, brokers and agents (issuing polices and letters to the Embassy).
    • Identification of new business opportunities that will assist in achieving growth targets.
    • Identification and recruitment of travel agents, agents, brokers and be able to train the intermediaries on the online portal.
    • Setting up meetings, preparing and delivering presentations to potential clients.
    • Participating in collection of premium for new and renewed business due.
    • Assist in maintaining Credit control as per Company’s policy.
    • Delivering good customer service by responding swiftly to queries and concerns from clients.
    • Providing management with market feedback and intelligence.
    • Gathering customer service feedback and reporting on intellectual and operational issues raised by clients.
    • Assist in keeping proper records and maintaining statements of premium utilization for corporate clients in our books.
    • Filing and documentation: this entails opening new files, proper filing management (quotes, general, policy documents, recording of all policies sold in a shared folder).

    Other roles in respect of general insurance:

    • Preparing risk registers for various clients for underwriting purpose.
    • Consulting on the most effective cover for a particular need, while taking a number of factors into account.
    • Conducting broker/ client visits, reviewing renewal terms and following up on upcoming renewals.
    •  Developing and maintaining good working relationships with intermediaries and existing customers.
    • Ensuring credibility with clients by maintaining detailed knowledge of current market conditions and competitors’ products.
    • Discussing market feedback from clients and on areas of concern with relevant departments.

    ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE:

    • Bachelor Degree in Business or related discipline from a reputable university.
    • Knowledge of insurance products, especially travel insurance will be an added advantage.
    • Progress in Professional qualification(s) in insurance e.g. ACII, FCII or equivalent considered an added advantage

    EXPERIENCE

    • At least two years of experience

    CORE TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE

    • Good customer relationship management skills (internal and external customers).
    • Good communications skills, both written and verbal.
    • Self-starter and energetic person
    • Selling and presentation skills will be an added advantage
    • Self-motivated but able to work as part of a team.
    • Good organizational and time-management skills.
    • Positive attitude, self-motivated, self-driven and able to work with minimal supervision.
    • Good negotiation skills and persuasiveness.
    • Confidence presenting to large groups of people.
    • Trustworthiness and discretion when handling confidential information.
    • A smart appearance and professional manner.
    • Strong attention to detail, ability to multitask and performance oriented.
