    Cattle Production Manager (Cattle Ranch) – Nanyuki, Kenya

    Key Responsibilities

    • Implement and supervise daily husbandry practices for 500-1000 head of beef cattle.
    • Ensure the health, nutrition, and welfare of the livestock through proactive management strategies.
    • Oversee breeding programs, vaccinations, and disease prevention measures.
    • Manage veterinary issues promptly and effectively, in collaboration with local veterinarians.
    • Lead a team of approximately 10 employees, including herders and support staff.
    • Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure optimal performance and productivity.
    • Foster a positive work culture based on collaboration, respect, and continuous improvement.
    • Develop and implement operational plans to optimize cattle production and grazing management.
    • Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements related to livestock management.
    • Assist in marketing activities, including the procurement of cattle from the market as well as building and maintaining relationships with suppliers, buyers, and other stakeholders in the industry.

    Qualifications

    • A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, animal science or related field.
    • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in hands-on cattle management.
    • Must be able to work in a rural area.
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
    • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
    • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
    • Knowledge of veterinary practices and experience in managing veterinary issues in Kenya.
