Declaration of the vacancy in the Office of Chairperson of The Energy & Petroleum Tribunal

IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 26 (5) of the Energy Act 2019 hereinafter referred to as the Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Energy declares a vacancy in the office of Chairperson to the Energy and Petroleum Tribunal, herein after referred to as the Tribunal, and invites applications from suitable qualified persons for the said position.
The applications shall be addressed to the Chairperson of the Energy and Petroleum Tribunal Selection Panel pursuant to section 26 (7) of the Act within fourteen days of the publication of this Notice.
QUALIFICATION FOR APPOINTMENT AS CHAIRPERSON OF THE TRIBUNAL
A person shall be qualified for appointment as Chairperson of the Tribunal if that person: –
In addition to the qualifications specified in Paragraph A, the applicant shall also be qualified to be appointed as the chairperson of the Tribunal if that person is qualified to be appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Kenya and possesses at least five years’ experience in energy and petroleum matters;
TERMS OF SERVICE
The chairperson of the Tribunal shall hold office for a period of three years and shall be eligible for re-appointment for one further term.

Shortlisted applicants shall be required to obtain and present at the interview valid clearances from the following bodies: Kenya Revenue Authority; Higher Education Loans Board; Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission; Criminal Investigation Department; and Credit Reference Bureau.
