    Chief Accountant (Financial Accounting)

    Job Specifications

    1. Planning and ensuring production of financial statements and coordination of external audits.
    2. Coordinating the annual External Audit within the department.
    3. Managing treasury activities and recommending to management investment options for surplus funds and fulfilling daily cash requirements of the organization.
    4. Review the information processing systems and recommending improvements and ensuring that the existing internal controls are working and being adhered to by all.
    5. Manage the treasury function to ensure availability of funds to meet the Company’s obligati ons as they fall due
    6. Supervise receipting of incoming cheques and bank transfers
    7. Ensure payments are done through EFT.
    8. Ensure accurate banking and printing of bank statements, monitoring and preparation of daily cash position report
    9. Verify Bank Reconciliations
    10. Monitor and ensure debt repayment and draw down.
    11. Ensure accurate posting of bank statements.

    Person Specifications

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Commerce (Accounting option) or its recognized equivalent qualifications
    2. CPA (K) or its recognized equivalent qualifications
    3. A minimum of eight (8) years relevant work experience three (3) of which must have been at Senior Management level.
    4. Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or any other recognized professional body.
    5. Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks
    6. Proficiency in computer applications.
    7. Demonstrated competence in work performance; and
    8. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

    Key Skills and Competencies

    1. In-depth knowledge of financial management, credit evaluation techniques, loss control methods, due diligence processes and taxation law.
    2. Considerable knowledge of principles, methods and practices of governmental accounting and budgeting
    3. Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
    4. Ability to develop and prepare relevant reports for management
    5. Ability to resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully
    6. Ability to maintain professional status, high integrity and keep abreast of evolving trends in accounting and finance through continuing professional development
    7. Proficiency in financial and statistical packages
    8. Ability to deliver Kenya Pipeline Company’s articulated vision for
    9. iChange, create a sense of urgency around change and motivates staff to join change efforts
