Job Purpose

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be the executive head of the Convention Centre and is responsible to the Board of Directors for day to day management and coordination of activities in the Board.

Job Description

Duties and responsibilities at this level entail:-

• The Secretary to the Board
• The Chief spokesperson for the Corporation
• Coordinating the operations and administrative functions of the Corporation;
• Developing policies and programmes of the Corporation;
• Managing funds and property and other resources of the Corporation;
• Managing and developing staff in the Corporation;
• Developing operations plans and programmes for achieving the Corporation's objectives;
• Developing economic, efficient and cost-effective internal management structure;
• Overseeing the implementing and reviewing the Strategic Plan,Business Plan and Annual Plan of the Corporation;
• Ensuring implementation and fulfilment of the policies and agreed objectives; performance targets and service standards of the Corporation.
• Providing advice as required on all matters within the Corporation's mandate;
• Performing any other duty necessary as stipulated in relevant Acts;
• To perform any other function that maybe determined by the Board of Directors of the Convention centre.

Job Specifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must:-

• Have a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in senior management level in tourism, hospitality or related sector;
• Have a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution;
• Have a master’s degree in marketing business administration or a related discipline;
• Be a member of a professional body;
• Have a certificate in Leadership Course lasting not less four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Be proficient in computer applications;
• Demonstrate professional competency and managerial capability as reflected in work performance and results.
