    Child Safeguarding Training Facilitator

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Facilitate a training on Child Safeguarding on 23rd and 30th of May targeting 20-25 participants.
    2. Directed to orient and educate the animators on how to do activities with Children.
    3. Communicate the main national regulations on Child Safeguarding with an emphasis on the area of prevention of abuse.
    4. Identify potential risks to children in all the project activities including workshops and events, plan mitigating measures and assign staff to be responsible for the implementation.
    5. Develop capacity building plan for S4P animators to provide on-going mentoring and support.
    6. Build the capacity of the Animators to deliver Child Safeguarding trainings, manage & undertake investigation.
    7. Build the capacity of the animators especially in receiving and recording reports.

    Competencies

    1. Experience implementing Child safeguarding policies for at least 3 years.
    2. Be open to learning about and working with special populations -refugees.
    3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written, spoken, and presentational) skills. Proficiency in English and Kiswahili
    4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people of different national and cultural backgrounds with respect for diversity.
    5. Upholding the Ethical Principles of delivery of service to clients

    Qualifications

    • Preferable: University degree or a higher qualification in Women’s Studies, Humanitarian Assistance, Development, International Human Rights, Law, Social Work or Political Science.
    • A minimum of 1-2 years in Child Protection Activities preferred.
    • Experience of cross-cultural work (preferred).
    • Capacity to use one’s own initiative and to work collaboratively with others.
    • Demonstrated understanding of Protection Standards, SGBV, Key sectorial issues and processes including advocacy for protection.
    • Practical understanding of Child Protection issues and approaches in humanitarian contexts, including the constraints/risks and cultural sensitivities of work in Kenya.
    • A thorough understanding of the gender specific dynamics and protection issues
