    Communications Intern

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist in creating various types of content, including blog articles, social media updates, newsletters and annual reports. 
    • Assist in managing and monitoring the organization’s social media accounts. 
    • Assist with drafting monthly/quarterly newsletters and annual reports.
    • Assist with documentation of the organization’s activities by capturing engaging photos and videos.
    • In coordination with the Communication Officer, ensure teams are upholding visual identity and brand standards.
    • Conduct research and help build a comprehensive database of compelling statistics related to our issue areas and regions (data on the prevalence of FGM, child marriage, SGBV etc.)
    • Develop behavioural change communication plans and Behavioral Change and Communications performance monitoring plans for the project implementation
    • Assess, select and/or recommend appropriate information and materials for behavioural change and communication initiatives verifying accuracy and quality for dissemination
    • Assess and recommend potential contacts, networks, resources and tools to support the maximum impact and outreach of BCC initiatives.

    Operations/Administrative Support (10%)

    • Occasional work to support office operations
    • Conduct digital archiving to create an organized, searchable photo/storytelling archive for the organization
    • Undertake special assignments as required

    Requirements

    • Degree/Diploma preferably in Journalism, Mass Communications, Public Relations, Development Communication or any other related field.
    • Previous work experience in the communication field, preferably in an NGO environment.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proven article writing, storytelling, social media management, videography, video editing and photography skills.
    • Must be results focused, team-oriented, creative, and a self-starter.
    • Developed an understanding of the needs of media and public audiences, preferably with an NGO approach.
