    Cook: KeMUHS/CS/2/11/2021

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Participating in menu planning and development.
    2. Preparing and production of high–quality food that meets the desired customer satisfaction.
    3. Maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety at work.
    4. Accounting for all production resources provided and issued from the stores.
    5. Proper handling and use of kitchen equipment.
    6. Ensuring that waste is kept at minimal levels by using creative cooking methods.
    7. Preparing and serving all foods and beverages at the cafeteria and during other functions.
    8. Ensuring opening and closing duties are done accordingly.
    9. Responsible for all kitchen activities in the absence of the chef.
    10. Providing guidance to interns and kitchen stewards.
    11. Executing food control standards in dispensing the established food portions.
    12. Performing any other duty assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    1. KCSE Certificate with a mean grade of C–.
    2. Diploma in Food & Beverage production & Service or its equivalent
    3. 3 years’ experience as a cook preferably in an institution of higher learning, star rated hotel or comparable organization.
    4. Valid food handlers’ certificate
    5. Computer literacy
    6. Attention to detail, creativity, passion and sense of business.
    7. Knowledgeable of food safety regulations.
    8. Ability to work in a fast–paced environment and multi task

    1. Ethics and Anti–Corruption Commission.
    2. Certificate of Good Conduct from Criminal Investigation Department.
    3. Letters of recommendation (in sealed envelopes) from at least three persons familiar with the applicant’s professional experience and general character one of whom must be the pastor of their local church.
