    Data Analyst - TerraFund

    Job Highlight:

    • Reporting to the Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Learning (MERL) Associate, you will analyse reporting data submitted through the TerraMatch platform to identify any trends, insights and successes made by TerraFund for AFR100 restoration champions in Africa. You will support management and reporting on the socio-economic and livelihood indicators for the program’s monitoring framework. You will train funded non-profits and enterprises to submit accurate socio-economic and livelihood data and report trends to the monitoring team and project teams across target African landscapes. You will support the MERL Associate, TerraFund for AFR100 to review, analyze and improve the accuracy and robustness of jobs, livelihoods, knowledge and skills, and ecosystem services indicators. Your recommendations and insights will directly inform the structure and composition of investment portfolios that are presented to philanthropists, corporations, private investors, and multilateral development banks. This is a unique opportunity to work directly with a dynamic team of experts that is dedicated to resourcing locally led organizations at the core of Africa’s movement to restore degraded land.

    What will you do:
    Qualitative and Quantitative Analyses (70%):

    • Review, analyse and report 6-month reporting data from 200+ TerraFund non-profit and business projects on restoration progress
    • Support the improvement of the accuracy and robustness of jobs, livelihoods, knowledge and skills as well as ecosystem services indicators of landscape restoration
    • Support the implementation of the Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification for qualitative data and socioeconomic indicators with TerraFund project management, product, and monitoring teams
    • Support the continuous improvement of the Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification and analysis plans, especially on reported or field-collected metrics on jobs, livelihoods, knowledge and skills as well as ecosystem services
    • Support data quality assessment, data management, data analysis and visualization processes by coordinating with partners such as One Tree Planted, and Realize Impact
    • Assist the Senior Product Manager in data cleaning and undertaking descriptive analysis of other project data as requested by MERL Associate and Monitoring Manager

    Technical Assistance (30%):

    • Train TerraFund projects on how to submit accurate socio-economic data in their reports.
    • Manage the site visit verification protocol and process with TerraFund partners, managing schedules for visits and setting the expectations for site visits
    • Collate and analyze reports from the site visits and present insights to the overall TerraFund team.

    What will you need:

    • Education: You have completed a bachelor’s degree in statistics, economics, or other related field
    • Experience: You have 3+ years of experience, including in statistical data analysis and reporting
    • Demonstrated capacity to use statistical analysis tools, such as STATA, R and NVIVO
    • Experience working with projects and local organizations working in restoration
    • Experience with Mobile and Online data collection platforms such as ODK, Kobo Collect and Survey CTO
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate about statistical data and insights
    • Familiarity with project management tools, such as Airtable or Monday.com, preferred
    • Languages: You will be proficient in written and spoken English, with additional fluency in French, Spanish, Portuguese, or Hindi preferred
    • Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position is based. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization.
