Dental Specialist II at Kitui County

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –

1. Served in the grade of Senior Dental Officer for a minimum period of three (3) years;
2. Bachelor of Dental Surgery(DS) degree or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
3. Certificate of Registration by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
4. Valid practicing license from Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
5. Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
6. Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution; and
7. Shown ability and demonstrated merit as reflected in work performance and results.

Duties and responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

1. Managing dental conditions in a dental unit or health facility;
2. Diagnosing, investigating, treating, and patient documentation;
3. Performing specific dental care procedures; restorative, prosthodontics, peadodonticts, orthodontics, minor oral-facial surgeries; periodontology and health education;
4. Providing formal and informal training, and supervising other health workers;
5. Maintaining an up-to-date dental health information system;
6. Organizing community sensitization and outreach programs on dental health care; and
7. Disseminating information for health planning.
