Deputy Director Environment and Climate Change at Uasin Gishu County Government

Duties and Responsibilities

• Participate in formulation, implementation and review of environment and climate change policies, strategies and programs;
• Assist in establishment of climate change directorate and develop staff and institutional capacity;
• Advise on matters related to environment and climate change programmes, projects and activities;
• Advise on matters relating to National and County Legislation, Policy, Coordination Regulation and monitoring of environmental conservation and climate change governance;
• Develop, implement and monitor environment and climate change strategic plans, work plans, appropriate programs, performance targets, budgets, standards, rules and guidelines;
• Carry out resource mobilization for climate change function including writing bankable proposals;
• Create awareness and sensitize the citizens on the impact of climate change;
• Carry out sensitization on the importance of environmental conservation;
• Monitor and evaluate staff performance against set targets;
• Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements for Appointment

• Bachelor’s Degree in Climate Change and Climate Systems, Meteorology, Environmental Studies, Natural Resources Management or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
• Masters’ Degree in a related field will be an added advantage;
• Have relevant working relevant experience of not less than five (5) years, three (3) years of which at the grade of management position;
• Management Course lasting not less than four(4) weeks from a recognized institution will be an added advantage;
• Successful applicant to satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 on leadership and integrity;
• vHave shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
