For appointment to this grade, an Officer MUST have:
- At least twelve (12) years relevant work experience, of which five (5) years must have been in a management position in public or private sector;
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: in Commerce (accounting or finance option), business administration (accounting option), or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: finance, accounting, business Administration, commerce or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- CPA (K) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or any other recognized professional body and in good standing;
- Management course lasting not less four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
- Proficiency in computer applications;
- and fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.

Duties and responsibilities
- Preparing financial reports, interpreting financial statements and making recommendations;
- Initiating the development and evaluation of financial systems and making recommendations;
- Proposing investment strategies; Cooperating with auditors and providing review data;
- Ensuring compliance with financial requirements;
- Maintaining financial records and ensuring safe custody of the Institute’s financial assets;
- Carrying out treasury management; approved budget; systems audit recommendations;
- Coordinating preparation of budget estimates and monitoring compliance;
- Developing and reviewing quality management system and implementation of Implementing Management resolutions and preparing progress reports;
- and monitoring and reporting on performance progress and risk management activities.
