    Education

    Advanced university degree in Environmental studies, Social Sciences, Economics, Management or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

    Work Experience

    • At least 15 years of progressive responsible work experience in the management of environmental or sustainable development work in a multi-cultural setting is required.
    • 5 years of working experience at the international level is required.
    • 3 years of working experience in a supervisory capacity is required.
    • Experience managing the preparation of budgets, programmes of work and the management
    • of financial resources is required.
    • Experience in driving the global environmental agenda and sustainable development goals is
    • required.
    • Experience liaising with governments and in resource mobilisation is desirable.
    • Experience working for the United Nations system or other international organization is desirable

    Languages
        
    English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Working knowledge of French is desirable.

    NOTE: “fluency equals a rating of “fluent” in all four areas (read, write, speak, understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of “confident” in two of the four areas.
