Emergency Medicine Training Programme, Accident & Emergency at Aga Khan University Hospital

Introduction

Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi (AKUH, N) is a private not-for-profit teaching hospital that provides tertiary and secondary level healthcare services. It is the first hospital in East Africa to be accredited by the Joint Commission International from USA. The University Hospital has been providing high quality care for the people of East Africa and beyond for over 60 years.

The Emergency Medicine Training Programme is an 18-month (Full Time) competency-based training programme that will be conducted at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi under the supervision of Emergency Physicians. It will prepare the candidate for the Diploma in Primary Emergency Care from the College of Emergency Medicine of South Africa.
The programme is aimed at providing doctors working in Emergency Departments with the knowledge and clinical experience to provide quality, efficient and safe care. The course will benefit Junior Medical Officers, Career Medical Officers and General Practitioners.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in medicine (MBChB) or equivalent
• Must have completed internship and licenced by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
