    Employee Relations Investigation Specialist-2

    Job Description:

    The Employment Relations (ER) Investigation Specialist reports to the Senior Advisor Employee Relations & Investigations and is responsible for conducting investigations into potentially sensitive, high risk and complex employment issues, including in particular harassment (general & sexual), sexual assault, grievances, violation of human resource policies, etc.

    • The Investigation Specialist will be expected to plan, organize and manage workstreams as required in respect of all investigations assigned to them of alleged and actual employee relations incident.  The Specialist will also collaborate and communicate effectively with key stakeholders such as Internal Audit, Safeguarding, and Staff Care (as requested).
    • Additionally, the role holder will assist in conducting employee relations investigator training (online and in-person) as part of the broader responsibilities.
    • The role will also be responsible to maintain awareness of industry trends in INGOS and standards within the Employee Relations function in order to effectively advise the organisation in appropriate compliance, as well as risk mitigation efforts. This will also include working with stakeholders in Enterprise Risk Management to support the proper use and functioning of the organisations Integrated Incident Management system (IIMS).

    Key Responsibilities

    Managing and Conducting Investigations (50%)

    • Execute professional investigations into sensitive, complex, and other high-risk workplace allegations in line with World Vision’s case management standard operating procedures, anticipating challenges and risks and identifying strategies for risk mitigation throughout the investigation process.
    • Ensure investigations are appropriately triaged and conducted in a timely, survivor-centred and professional manner considering the safety of all those involved, including documenting risk assessments and mitigation measures
    • Manage and track cases to support timely completion and to assist in identifying and mitigating investigative barriers.
    • Regularly monitor employee relations-related investigations for quality and professionalism, identifying possible gaps in guidance or learning required

    Employee Relations Investigator Training (25%)

    • Review, update, maintain and coordinate deployment of virtual and in-person employee relations investigator training to build up and maintain a high-quality skill level across the network of Field, Regional, and GC level and P&C professionals who may be called upon to investigate ER matters.

    Analysis & Reporting (25%)

    • Identifies and tracks trends, lessons learned from investigations to inform learning, adaptation and improvement of policies, procedures and strategies

    Required qualifications and experience

    • Bachelors degree in Human Relations / Industrial Relations or law 
    • 4-5 years’ experience as a workplace investigator 
    • Strong investigation, research analytical skills
    • Proven track record in providing strategic and tactical advice and direction to investigations being conducted by others
    • Sound knowledge of human resources theories concepts and approaches relevant to employee relations; and of case management and administration including conducting interviews with potentially distressed individuals
    • Experience with translating data into information and analysis that communicates an easily understood concept or message. 
    • Strong writing and communication skills 
    • Experience developing training programmes, preferably in a related field and delivering training to a virtual international audience
    • Experience engaging and working with a wide-range of senior leadership level stakeholders

    Preferred

    • Recognised international investigations qualification is an asset
    • Professional or academic education Excellent English language skills (oral and written).
    • Fluency in a language other than English considered an asset (French, or Spanish preferred).

    Travel and/or Work Environment

    • The position requires ability and willingness to travel internationally, potentially 15% of the time.
    • Able to work from home if required
