    Field Assistant – Safety & Efficacy (16 Positions)

    Vacancy No. CVDC/011/01/23

    Position summary

    The successful candidate will be expected to supervise field officers while these conduct MDA activities, and electronic data collection. He/She will work under a multidisciplinary team of senior field assistants, scientists, a trial coordinator, clinicians, pharmacists and operations officers.

    Job Specification

    • Training of field officers working on a casual labour basis;
    • Supervision of field officers in their daily tasks;
    • Ensuring that all field officers have the necessary materials, documentation and equipment needed for their work;
    • Oversee study field activities through daily visits of the study area;
    • Assist in community engagement activities whenever requested;
    • Be familiar with study requirements, schedule, documentation and quality assurance procedures;
    • Conduct information giving with the community on study aims, objectives, procedures, risks, benefits as well as respond to questions and concerns;
    • Oversee informed consent process is conducted following highest ethical standards;
    • Report anomalies or technical issues to operations team in timely manner.

    Person Specification

    • KCSE mean grade D+ or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • A certificate in any biomedical sciences.

    Key Skills and Competencies

    • Ability to use an electronic device;
    • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills; Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail, multitasking skills and excellent time management skills.
    • Previous experience working with the community is an added advantage;

    Desired Qualities

    • Experience working in health research or other programmatic activity in the field involving the community and data collection will be an added advantage;
    • Physical fitness and willingness to walk long distances;
    • Availability to work out of hours when required; and
    • Must be a Kwale resident and proficiency in a Mijikenda language.
