    Finance Manager – Maternity Reliever

    Purpose of the position

    • To support the Finance team in the effective delivery of financial support to the DNDi Eastern Africa office and the implementation of the Global Finance team’s action plan, with a strong emphasis on compliance and donor financial management activities.  

    Specific Job Responsibilities
    Compliance

    • Provide effective financial control and advisory support to the Global Internal Control team and DNDi Eastern Africa office financial compliance activities:  
    • Co-ordinate the DNDi Eastern Africa office annual audit and oversee the implementation of audit recommendations.
    • Oversee the implementation of tax compliance requirements in the DNDi Eastern Africa office. 
    • Support the Global Internal Control team in the updating and embedding of the global signature policy across regional offices.
    • Support the development and documentation of DNDi Finance SOPs and processes in the regions, ensuring SOPs and processes align with the DNDi Internal Control System (ICS).

    Donor Financial Management

    • Support the effective financial management of grants throughout the life cycle of donor funded projects:  
    • Support the preparation of donor financial reports in collaboration with the Finance team and cross-functional R&D and External Relations teams, ensuring compliance with the grant’s legal, procurement and financial requirements.
    • Provide financial monitoring and advisory support to the DNDi program teams and partners to appropriately manage the grant funding over its life cycle. 
    • Contribute to training of project leaders and budget holders on finance matters. 

    Reporting line 

    • The Finance Manager will report to the Senior Finance Manager.

    Interactions

    • Works with the finance and planning team in the operations department.
    • This role has a representational role through the promotion of programs and maintain productive relationships by projecting the image of a credible partner

    Experience

    • Minimum 12 years' relevant experience in which at least 4 years at Senior Officer Level.
    • Prior grant budget development, compliance, and financial reporting experience, with a good understanding of major institutional donor requirements including budgeting, eligibility issues, compliance management, and reporting. 
    • Proven experience in partner financial management and oversight in resource-limited settings.
    • Working experience with accounting software e.g., Navision
    • Very good knowledge of Microsoft Suite especially MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
    • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and matrix structure.
    • Experience of working in public and private sector is highly desirable.

    Education

    • Master's degree or equivalent
    • CPA (K) or equivalent
