Front End Developer-Nairobi at Excelwise Consultants

Role primarily includes building the client-side of web applications. Also should be able to translate company and customer needs into functional and appealing interactive applications.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Use markup languages like HTML to create user-friendly web pages
2. Maintain and improve website
3. Build reusable code and libraries for future use
4. Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
5. Assure that all user input is validated before submitting to back-end
6. Optimize applications for maximum speed
7. Design mobile-based features
8. Collaborate with back-end developers and web designers to improve usability
9. Get feedback from, and build solutions for, users and customers
10. Write functional requirement documents and guides
11. Create quality mockups and prototypes
12. Help back-end developers with coding and troubleshooting
13. Ensure high quality graphic standards and brand consistency
14. Design and build advanced applications for the Android platform.
15. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
16. Work with outside data sources and API's.
17. Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability.
18. Work on bug fixing and improving application performance.
19. Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.

Key Requirements

• BSc degree in Computer Science or relevant field
• Proven 3+ years work experience as a Front-end developer
• 2 years of Android development, and Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle
• Hands on experience with markup languages, JavaScript, CSS and jQuery
• Familiarity with browser testing and debugging
• Experience with Android SDK
• Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON
• Experience with third-party libraries and APIs
• In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment)
• Working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies
• Understanding of layout aesthetics & SEO principles
• An ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent analytical and multitasking skills
• Have published at least one original Android app
• Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
• Team player
• Good time-management skills
• Great interpersonal and communication skills
