    Gender (C-Suite) Training For Staff

    Background and General Guidelines

    • Background HealthRight Kenya (HRK) is a dedicated health and human rights organization with a mission to empower marginalized communities, ensuring they have access to equitable and high-quality health systems. Over the years, HRK has been a proponent of locally developed solutions, promoting fair healthcare access, and achieving improved health outcomes for marginalized populations. Leveraging a rights-based approach, HRK has collaborated with local and national authorities to implement community engagement strategies across more than 10 counties in Kenya. The organization has successfully established connections at both community and county levels, even in the remotest and most disadvantaged regions.
    • HRK seeks the expertise of a reputable consulting firm/individual to conduct training sessions on the gender integration toolkit/policy, which encompasses:

    Gender and development

    • Gender Norms/Stereotypes
    • Domains of gender Analysis matrix
    • Gender Equality and Advocacy
    • Gender mainstreaming approaches and integration in programming.
    • Gender Budgeting
    • Contemporary/emerging issues in gender

    Specific Learning Objectives of the Training

    • The primary objectives of this training program are to enhance HealthRight Kenya's staff capacity in gender-sensitive programming, policy development, and performance evaluation:
    • Enhance HRK staff understanding of gender concepts and their practical application in programming, budgeting, management, monitoring, and evaluation.
    • Deepen comprehension of HRK's gender strategies.
    • Enhance familiarity with gender analysis frameworks and tools.

    Expected Outputs
    Deliverables The selected consultant will be responsible for:

    • Developing a comprehensive and high-quality training concept, along with modules and a detailed schedule.
    • Analyzing pre- and post-training test results for participating staff.
    • Compiling a comprehensive workshop report that encompasses:

    Key training outcomes

    • Summary of training proceedings
    • Recommendations resulting from the training
    • Providing an organizational report on gender training and performance including training materials

    Consultant’s Capacity

    • HealthRight Kenya will engage a qualified consultant possessing the following qualifications:
    • A minimum of a Master in Anthropology, Development Studies, Gender Studies or a related field.
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in gender and development training or capacity development. Strong communication skills encompassing presentations, report writing, and research.
    • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
    • Demonstrated abilities in exercising judgment, attention to detail, initiative, responsibility, tact, discretion, and cultural sensitivity.

    Supervision

    • The Consultant is expected to demonstrate self-motivation and an ability to work autonomously. Supervision and support will be provided by the Country Director and Senior Management Team, who will offer an overall orientation to the task, pertinent background documents, and connections to relevant internal and external entities.

    Evaluation Criteria

    • Methodology Understanding: An explanation of the proposed training methodology, processes, and deliverables.
    • Personnel Proposal: A description of the staff composition, their varied experiences, competencies, and proposed participatory approach, along with technical expertise.
    • Proposed Timeline: A six-day timeline encompassing preparation, curriculum development, and training.
    • Consultancy Management and Quality Control: Plans for structuring and delivering quality training modules.

    Method of Application

    • A technical and financial proposal outlining their interpretation of the Terms of Reference and detailing the training plan and methodology.
