    Group Director Liabilities

    Job Purpose

    To develop and grow the Group’s liabilities (customer deposits) business so as to achieve growth in customer base and income targets. This Group leadership role shall develop and articulate the vision for the Liabilities business line, leading the strategy planning and execution of the same so as to ensure appropriate financial solutions for customer and the attainment of the business line commercial return.The effective execution of the role’s responsibilities should enhance the Equity Brand and purpose of transforming lives, giving dignity and expanding opportunity for wealth creation for our customers.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Growth of the liabilities business
    •  Setting a clear vision and mission for the liabilities business line, aligned to the Group’s mission and vision.
    • Developing and monitoring long term strategies for ensuring the long-term commercial viability of the liabilities business so as to enable country segment heads to focus on customer onboarding.
    • Initiate and lead projects for developing or improving deposit mobilizing products that are market led.
    • Formulating policies and planning recommendations for the business line to the Group Commercial Director
    • Championing deposit mobilization solutions and innovations to the relevant business stakeholders
    • Optimal allocation of the business line resources to promote productivity.
    • Coaching and developing the business line’s human capital to unlock and deploy their full potential.
    • Oversees the operations of the business line and manage its compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Execute deposit mobilization innovations and strategies to meet revenue and profit targets
    • Drive financial performance of liability growth solutions: Meet Revenue targets, minimize cost and maximize profit through a robust cost of funds management strategy.
    • Update the GCCO and country MDs of situations, issues, opportunities, relationships and performance of the liabilities book.
    • Strong risk management focus of the liabilities book to effectively manage/mitigate inherent risks such as concentration risk.
    • Work with IT and segment heads to develop new liability products for subsidiaries to match the capabilities at the center of excellence
    • Drive Product managers to support liability growth all the countries in the Group and give maximum support at the subsidiary levels.
    • Ensure timely and monthly report of channel optimization (subscription, deployment, sales, and financial performance)

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Management, Finance or related field.
    • MBA or professional certification in business, management, or finance would be an added advantage
    • 7 -10 years of experience in a bank or a financial sector as a deposit mobilization lead.
    • Exposure ( level, industry, etc..)

    Key  Technical SKILLS & leadership competencies

    • Experience in Digital savings solutions
    • Knowledgeable in strategy formulation and implementation.
    • Transformative leadership, consistently delivering outstanding results through people
    • Strong commercial acumen/awareness including ability to assess risk and appropriate levels of return.
    • Good understanding of savings products and channels
    • Strong Marketing and Sales skills to drive Retail, SME and Corporate adoption
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Experience in managing revenue, cost, profit management and reporting
    • Multicultural awareness and sensitivity
    • Good understanding of regulatory compliance and corporate governance.
    • Ability to nurture effective relationship with local regulators as well as government bodies and officials.
