Head Mechanic at Vipingo Ridge

Responsibilities

• To plan and uphold mechanical and maintenance schedules by preparing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual maintenance schedules that guarantee motor vehicles, equipment availability, and legal compliance at optimal cost.
• Carry out regular inspections of motor vehicles, motorbikes, and other earth-moving equipment to proactively identify required repairs, spares, tools, equipment, and materials. This also includes carrying out troubleshooting/fault diagnosis on motor vehicles, motorbikes, and other earth-moving equipment and providing solutions promptly to support seamless operations and minimal business disruption arising from motor vehicle-related failures.
• Lead, mentor, and motivate team members to achieve operational excellence.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the department.
• Provide support to the procurement function to ensure timely and quality acquisition and delivery of motor vehicles and other equipment spare parts.
• To be actively involved in continual improvement projects to contribute to the resort’s journey towards operational excellence.
• Updating of repairs and maintenance records and reports on time for planning and decision-making.
• Ensure that all vehicles meet regulatory compliance and safety standards.
• Train drivers as needed for any related mechanical issues.
• Training operators on the safe and efficient use of machinery and equipment
• Maintain the workplace in a safe and tidy condition through good housekeeping practices.

Qualifications

• Dip / Bsc Electrical / Mechanical/ Manufacturing Engineering/ relevant training.
• 4 years’ experience repairing both petrol and diesel engines. Auto electric skills/car diagnosing skills will be an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair procedures.
• Good communication skills and knowledge in the use of basic computer software skills.
