Head of CDZ at DHL

In this Head of CDZ position

• You will be a key interface between CDZ, Ocean Freight & Airfreight department and will control CDZ P&L in conjunction with finance.
• You will ensure daily invoicing is done according to latest CDZ financial guidelines and revenue is not lost to other Products.
• You will ensure pricing and cost for CDZ standalone shipments are up to date and market related.
• You will ensure that compliance is maintained at all times and staff trained accordingly.
• You will manage and maintain Customs licenses and Customs deferment bonds and will manage and control department costs, file count, productivity, and revenue (EBIT).
• You will maintain communication with OFR and AFR for Network shipments, as well as Standalone and will establish and maintain relationships with existing customer.
• You will support sales and customer service with technical data and Customer visits.
• You will always ensure quality of work. Audit entries before submission.
• You will maintain a risk register for refunds, bonded cargo and any other CDZ activities that need monitoring on a regular basis to ensure we minimize or eliminate all risk of loss of revenue through mishandling or other.
• You will deploy and maintain department KPI’s which amongst others should include, number of entries per month, number of lines, number of vouchers of correction, refunds, acquittals, etc.
• You will manage performance through IKO’s and daily management activities.
• You will give feedback to each team member to ensure constant alignment with Country, Regional and Global goals.
• You will keep the team regularly informed of results, productivity and quality of work, as well as all Customer feedback.
• You will evaluate training needs and implement in accordance with budget guidelines and Country Manager approval.
• You will ensure proper implementation of new business to avoid misunderstandings of the sales promise and Customer requirements. Don’t leave any grey areas open to interpretation.
• You will understand Customer base who are up trading and who are down trading and why ad ensure regular Customer visits with Customer service representative or other.
• You will assist with collection when necessary to avoid Customers exploiting agreed payment terms.
• You will in conjunction with finance be aware of Customers exceeding their credit limits before submission to Customs or further disbursements of duty and taxes. Follow Country and/or regional guidelines.
• You will for Managers with shared functions, such as, OFR and CDZ or AFR and CDZ ensure that quality time is dedicated to both Products and services aligned with Country, Regional and Global requirements and avoid neglecting one of the Products in favour of another.
• You will be mindful of our service delivery, our customers, internal and external as well as our staff and ensure CDZ always acts in an exemplary manner.

Now, here’s what we need from you

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Logistics and Supply Chain, Business Administration or any other related field.
• Certification on Country Customs Laws, Rules and Regulations.
• 10 years’ experience in CDZ operations. AFR and OFR operational knowledge in an advantage.
• 5 years’ management experience with reporting structure of more than 10 employees.
